CANTON, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam senior golfer Shane Laurie (Canton, N.Y./Hugh C. Williams) shot round of 75 and 77 to win the North Country Tri-Match at St. Lawrence University by a single stroke. The host Saints finished with a total score of 624, two strokes ahead of second place Clarkson University, and eight in front of the Bears.
 
Behind Laurie, junior Shawn Thomas (Alexandria Bay, N.Y./Alexandria Central) had a strong seventh place showing with rounds of 77 and 79. Freshman Matt Supernault (Massena, N.Y./Massena) tied for 10th place with a 77 and an 84. Senior Lee Shippee (Corinth, N.Y./Corinth) tied for 18th place with scores of 82 and 85.
 
The Bears are back in action on Tuesday, Sept. 6, when they host the Bears Fall Invitational at the Potsdam Country Club at 11 a.m.
