POTSDAM, N.Y.—SUNY Potsdam men's soccer players
Eduardo Figueroa and
Joseph Glackin have been named to the All-State University of New York Athletic Conference's second team.
Figueroa, a freshman, led the Bears in scoring with six goals and five assists for 17 points, while starting all 19 games. His 17 points were the sixth most by a SUNYAC player in 2011. In his Potsdam debut, the forward scored the game-winning goal in a 4-3 victory over Baruch on Sept. 3. He scored twice against Elmira on Sept. 11, totaled a goal and an assist against Cortland on Oct. 1, and recorded a goal and two assists against Buffalo State on Oct. 14.
Glackin, a three-year starter in goal for the Bears, posted a 6-6-3 record with four shutouts in 16 starts this season. The junior allowed just 1.61 goals-per-game and his .774 save percentage ranked third in the conference. Midway through the season Glackin put together a stretch of 314 minutes without allowing a goal.
Figueroa and Glackin were key factors in the Bears earning their first SUNYAC playoff berth since 2002. Under second year head coach
Adam Parker, Potsdam registered a 4-3-2 league mark to reach the postseason for the second time in program history.
