CANTON, N.Y.—Both the SUNY Potsdam men's and women's cross country teams finished 17th at the 2011 Hoffmann Invitational race hosted by St. Lawrence University. Bates captured the men's race and Geneseo won the women's competition.
The Bears' men were led by senior
George DeVita (Evans Mills, N.Y./Indian River), who ran an 8K time of 34:46.5. Freshman
Brett Wunsch (Colonie, N.Y./Colonie) and senior
Brandon LaShomb (Norfolk, N.Y./Norwood-Norfolk) were next with times of 35:51.8 and 37:05, respectively. Sophomore
Dan Lewis (Beacon, N.Y./Beacon) finished in 38:35.8 and sophomore
John Bresett (Potsdam, N.Y./Potsdam) posted a time of 41:04.9.
Freshman Rebecca Duckett (Tupper Lake, N.Y./Tupper Lake) paced Potsdam's women with a 5K time of 31:11. Sophomore
Sara Behuniak (Latham, N.Y./Shaker) completed the course in 33:40.1 and senior
Shannon Garvey (Massapequa, N.Y./Hawthorne Center Knolls) recorded a time of 33:48.6. Sophomores
Kinga Kanczura (Syracuse, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) and
Morgan Stoughtenger (Solvay, N.Y./Cicero-North Syracuse) rounded out the group with times of 36:39.4 and 38:12.1, respectively.
The Bears are back in action next Saturday, Oct. 15, at the Cross Country Only Championships in Geneva, N.Y.
